Operators License
To Use a Forklift?
You do not need a license to operate a forklift,
but you do need to be certified that you have
received the training to operate one. In many
cases you will be provided with a card or
certification that you have completed your
forklift training. It is important to have this card/certification with you when applying for a forklift job.
Additionally, you should always carry this card with you on the job in case your supervisor or a health and safety inspector demands to see it. Failure to produce this card could earn you a fine or the loss
of your job. Beware of “cash only” job offers where you will be operating a forklift without needed certification as you could be liable for fines or a lawsuit if a workplace accident happens.
And, if you are injured on the job, you may be unable to collect damages if the investigation discovers you have falsely claimed your forklift certification.
