Can I As a Minority Have

a Career As a Forklift

Operator?

It can be challenging, if not difficult for a minority to achieve a good

career in North America. However a great way to advance your career is to become a forklift operator. You will be making more money than from general labor and this can set you on the right track for

job promotion, such as a supervisor or a shipping agent. Companies are now looking for skilled minorities to fill job openings. By finding a forklift training school in your area (available on this

website, forkliftnow.com) and obtaining certification, a visible minority will have an advantage

over other applicants.

Case Study: Trevor

Since completing high school, Trevor was working part-time in a retail chain store. Early on, Trevor realized there wasn’t going to be much of a future if he continued working in retail so he kept his eyes open for new opportunities. It was then that Trevor discovered the shipping/receiving night shift crew made a few dollars more working in the backroom. Trevor saw the forklift that was being used, and asked one of his co-worker friends about it. Trevor learned that you needed to be certified to operate these machines and that they weren’t hard to use, but you needed to learn about forklift safety.

Trevor began to research on the internet and discovered www.forkliftnow.com. Reading the website, Trevor discovered a forklift training facility in his state, which was located in his city. Going into his savings, Trevor booked a forklift training course which was a reasonable cost. Over the course

of a day, he learned forklift safety and received hands on training of the various forklifts available.

He received his certification as well as encouragement to operate the forklift machines there at the school if needed further practice. Trevor revisited forkliftnow.com and searched for forklift jobs

in his area.

Trevor upgraded his resume with his forklift certification and applied for several jobs requiring certified forklift operators. Trevor got a job working for a dairy distributor handling the unloading of trucks

and quickly was able to master the forklift. His supervisor noticed Trevor’s work ethic as well as his commitment to safety and fast tracked him towards full time employment. Five years later, Trevor

was promoted to supervisor and today earns a great salary with benefits.
